The Pro-Straint Detainee Safety Chair provides law enforcement and medical personnel with an option to physically restrain individuals who may be impaired, violent, or otherwise uncontrollable such that they pose a risk to themselves or others. It features 8 points of restraint which provide varying degrees of restraint to accommodate numerous situations. The Pro-Straint Detainee Safety Chair is commonly used in prisons, jails, correctional facilities, police and sheriff departments, and psychiatric hospitals.

The Pro-Straint Detainee Safety Chair is constructed with durable materials, including a steel base with retractable casters, a molded thermoplastic polyolefin seat, steel buckles, woven nylon restraint straps, and tamper-resistant buckles. The Pro-Straint Detainee Safety Chair is intended to withstand force exerted by an uncooperative detainee when used appropriately.

With a heavy base and low center of gravity, the Pro-Straint Detainee Safety Chair is intended to be stable. A one-step lifting mechanism is located at the rear of the chair underneath the seat, which releases casters with 360° rotation to facilitate movement of the chair. The casters can support a total weight of over 500 lbs.

The Pro-Straint Detainee Safety Chair features a removable back pad in the seat that, when removed, reveals a slot that can accommodate most handcuffed detainees’ hands when the detainee is in a seated position.

The Pro-Straint Detainee Safety Chair provides trained law enforcement and medical personnel with multiple options to select the appropriate level of restraint for the individual and the circumstances based on their professional judgment. For example, personnel can select a combination of waist and shoulder restraints for the torso; seat a detainee with or without separate handcuffs; customize the range of hand motion for uncuffed detainees using restraints with rear cam buckle adjustments; and tailor the configuration of restraints and straps around the detainee’s ankles to eliminate all motion or allow some motion.
